JunkDepot featured as GoogleBase API Example

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

example project
To be noticed by your peers can be extremely satisfying and rewarding, and when that peer is Google - words cannot describe. Today Google posted JunkDepot as an example project using their API’s - in particular their GoogleBase data API page which highlights projects using their API, as well as recent posts from the GoogleBase Blog.

As you know, JunkDepot uses GoogleBase API to post your posted items here, onto GoogleBase which users can search from. This gives your products tons of exposure and traffic back into JunkDepot. What more can we ask for?

JunkDepot adds eBay listings

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Haven’t posted here in a while but wanted to let our users know that you might be wondering why eBay is showing up in some listings. For items where there aren’t any of your listings, we’ve pulled items from ebay in that matching catagory. Hopefully sooner than later items posted to JD will out pace those from eBay so get posting!

We also want to hear some feedback from our users, so email me and tell me what you’d like to see here.
Talk soon.

mostat.us logo
After a long weekend coding we are happy to announce Mostats.us (mobile status) a Google Analytics application for your phone. Since launching junkdepot we’ve become obsessed with our sites stats. Now we can track our hits from anywhere. So, If you aren’t tied to your desk and run websites with data collected by Google, just point your phone browser to Mostat.us. Login with your Google account and we’ll generate your statistics in a small compact format just for your phone.

Mostat can check all of your sites setup in your Analytics account, just choose which website you want to view stats for and click Go!

Note we don’t store any info on our servers, all stats are deleted from memory after an hour.

Let us know what you think.

JD Press Coverage

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

We’ve gotten some amazing press since we’ve gone live only a month ago, which I’d like to show off here on this post.

RapLeaf - our partner for rating sellers reputation talked us up on their blog & listed us as a partner.

Download Squad - A great resource for finding cool web apps and downloads and part of the biggest blog network on the web mentioned JD.

Profy - A blog about Web 2.0 startups gave JunkDepot rave reviews, even calling JunkDepot “the perfect website” - sweet! We think so too!

Thrillist - A mailing list about cool things all around the web let their list be known about JD.

I’ll mention more as I hear about them.

Huge updates on JunkDepot

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

We’ve pushed out some great new features tonight on JD. Most obvious and important is the addition of new categories. We created 4 new top-level groups for you to post your items: Home Goods (which was our original set of categories), Electronics which covers all of your audio/video phone related equiptment, computers - because we know you have some extra memory or cabling you’d love to sell off, and finally sporting goods when the wet suit just doesn’t fit anymore.

These extra new categories are going to help you find just the right category for your junk.

Another great feature we’ve setup is for all you bloggers out there. Each item now has a ‘Blog This’ button in the right column. Just click it, and copy the code then paste it in your blog. Since it’s just HTML you can style it with CSS to match your layout. Below is a classic Swiss Army available for anyone needing an extra knife in their back pocket.
